Es una ciudad con gran número de estudiantes universitarios. Hay más de 49.000 estudiantes ingleses estudiando aquí, es por ello que está llena de vida con un ambiente muy agradable que te ayudara a sentirte como en casa.
Se aprecian relativamente pocos extranjeros en Bristol, por ello es fácil conocer a gente inglesa y practicar su lengua integrándote en sus costumbres y en definitiva en su vida.
Bristol es la ciudad costera favorita en Gran Bretaña. La ciudad es una rica mezcla del patrimonio de la época de la Regencia, comercio especializado, arte vibrante, y festivales como Asthon Court Festival o The Balloon Festival
Situada sobre el río Avon, en el pintoresco sudoeste de Inglaterra, Bristol es una próspera ciudad comercial, que atrae a turistas y a colonos. Con un exitoso puerto interior, se convirtió en anfitrión en el siglo XIX de la ingeniería Victoriana namely the Clifton Suspension Bridge, y más recientemente de la próspera industria aeroespacial. Con sus frondosas zonas Georgianas, su atractivo trazado accidentado, y su canal, es un lugar estupendo para explorar el oeste del país y poder llevar a cabo muchas actividades de ocio. Y por la noche tienes muchas posibilidades: la población universitaria no dudará en estar de acuerdo que los bares, discotecas o pubs de Bristol que son insuperables y merece la pena visitarlos.
Bristol tiene dos importantes equipos de fútbol Bristol City Football Club y Bristol Rovers Football Club.
